Good morning West Coast Aikido Family,

We hope that this message finds you well. In light of the PM’s announcement last night, as of 12 noon today, Monday, March 23rd, we are officially stopping all face-to-face classes and switching to our online training format. Our members have received an email and group message on how to access our online tools. If you are a student or parent of a student, please refer to these announcements for the next steps.

Finally, we wanted to thank you for being a part of our West Coast Aikido family. Without you, we would not exist, and we are so grateful you are here with us. We also wanted to thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate through this unchartered and unprecedented territory together.

Domo Arigato!

Yours in Aiki,
Sensei Ross Taylor

In this difficult time it is vital that we support our local businesses by buying local as much as we can. Small business employees more people than any other business in Australia so the effect of the current situation could be devastating to our economy. Think before you buy and remember to be considerate to other shoppers.

Have great day.

Dear Students and Parents,

At West Coast Aikido Martial Arts Academy we are monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) news closely, and we want to keep all of our students and families safe. As of this moment in time, we have had no students or families of students report to us that they have been affected by COVID-19.

Here are the current recommendations for reducing the risk of transmission:

1. Wash hands diligently. Make it fun! Wet your hands, apply soap, and recite both parts of the Student Creed (which takes about 20 seconds) before rinsing. Little Warriors should recite the Little Warriors Creed twice.

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. If it’s unavoidable then wash your hands before doing so.

3. Practice good respiratory hygiene. Cough and sneeze into a tissue or elbow, not into the air.

4. Avoid close contact with people who are ill.

5. If you feel sick or have signs of illness, please stay at home.

We have hand sanitizer at the front counter, and we are working on getting more of it. (As you probably know, supplies are low everywhere.) We also have disinfectant wet wipes and Glen 20. We will be wiping door handles and cleaning our mats frequently.

The local schools are taking their guidance from the state health department. As long as the schools are open, our classes will continue as usual. If the schools close due to a heightened concern about coronavirus transmission, then we will offer live video instruction vis Facebook Live until schools re-open.

We appreciate your help and for being a part of our great community.

Yours in Aiki,
West Coast Aikido Martial Arts Academy
