EXCELLENT Based on 65 reviews Posted on Michelle ChurchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have had all 3 of our kids come to West Coast Aikido and have absolutely loved it. What they learn about respect, skills and discipline is gold class.Posted on Matthew MorganTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Both myself and my son train here, and have done so for many years. Sensei Ross is a talented and passionate teacher, and I really like how he focuses on mental development as well as physical skills. His focus on Aikido as "The way of Harmony" is a great complement to other self development activities like meditation and introspection.Posted on unity95Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A great dojo for the entire family. Awesome instructors, especially for the young ones. Aikido is great for all ages and is not as high impact as some other martial arts. Our two daughters absolutely love it. They've learned disapline, respect and self respect, and how to protect themselves in a variety of situations, they've also made many friends. Would highly recommend to all.Posted on Deslinder BalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've appreciated the willingness of the senior belts to support new students like myself; their genuine wish to help me learn and develop is much appreciated. My children also train here and it has really boosted their confidence and skills. FAQ’s
Yes. Safety is always our top priority. Classes are led by experienced instructors who know how to work with each age group appropriately. We use structured environments, clear expectations, and padded equipment to ensure your child learns in a way that’s both safe and confidence-building.
Yes, absolutely. While our environment is structured, we incorporate games, movement, and high-energy activities that keep kids smiling, engaged, and eager to come back. Fun is built into the process — and it’s one of the reasons our students stick with it long-term.
No. In fact, we actively work against that. Our culture is built on respect, humility, and integrity. Students are taught that strength is about protecting, not overpowering — and that leadership means setting a positive example.
Not even close. Martial arts — especially Aikido — teaches calm, control, and emotional awareness. Kids don’t become aggressive; they learn how to avoid conflict, stay grounded, and carry themselves with quiet confidence.
Discipline isn’t forced — it’s modeled and absorbed through the environment. From the moment students walk in, they’re guided by respectful routines, consistent standards, and role models who walk the talk. Over time, discipline becomes part of who they are — not something we have to “make” them do.
Not at all. Most of our students come in with no experience at all. Every class is beginner-friendly and paced to meet you (or your child) exactly where you’re at. Whether it’s your first time on the mat or you’re coming back after a break — you’re welcome here.
This isn’t just martial arts.
It’s a pathway to becoming more focused, more grounded, and more powerful — from the inside out.
