Hello Sensei Taylor,
I just wanted to thank you for all of the training you have given me.
The other night I caught a junky trying to break into my house and was able to restrain him immediately with Robuse and delivered a few atemi's to his ribs, the combination of these seemed to break his will. I ended up letting him go as I thought that the police would probably just give him a warning as he was still outside my house trying to get in when I found him. I felt as if I was in complete control of him the whole time and at no time did I feel as if I was in danger, I’m sure things would have been different if I had not been training.
Kind regards
Liam McGrath
"We have been associated with West Coast Aikido for the past four years. During that time our sons have attended regular classes, gradings and seminars there. Apart from the self defence skills they have acquired, they have developed skills in discipline, self confidence, concentration and strength of mind and body.
Our eldest son was lacking in confidence and found it difficult to speak to other people before he started Aikido. Since he began adult classes four years ago he has developed a quiet confidence and has come out his shell. He has progressed well through the grades and has gone from a white belt to a brown belt in that time.
His confidence has improved so much that he has been able to assist Sensei in teaching the junior class. He also helps the lower belts in the adult class with their technique. His ability in school sports also improved and he was chosen to try out for the WA Institute of Sport squad in Shot put and Javelin.
Our younger son found it very difficult to concentrate at school. He was easily distracted and unable focus on the task at hand. While he is at Aikido he is able to focus and works hard to perfect his technique. In 3 years he has reached his purple and white belt. The discipline he has learnt at Aikido is now evident in his improving school grades and attitude.
I have found Sensei Taylor to be an excellent teacher and role model for our children. His ability to train in an age appropriate manner, in a safe but strict environment is exceptional. Due to the style in which he teaches he attracts students to his school who are also of high standing.
I would recommend West Coast Aikido anyone who wanted themselves or their children to develop a lifelong skill that improves not only the body but the mind."

"An atmosphere of friendliness, respect and support is what initially attracted me to the West Coast Aikido Academy (WCAA).
Involved in other martial arts for most of my adult life, I was looking for a new challenge, but wanted my choice to involve more than just learning to 'fight'.
Aikido methods - as taught at the WCAA - encourage an unfailing attitude, a "de-stressing" of situations and cleverly allows people of all ages and physical ability to learn, adapt and progress - skills that are immediately applicable to life's ups and downs, not just a typical self-defence situation.
A high standard of teaching is maintained at WCAA, and care is taken to ensure a blend of the art with practical application, and respect to origin and philosophy.
I would encourage anyone wishing to participate in aikido to come and experience it with us."
