CHILDREN'S PROGRAM What is Aikido? Known as "the way of harmony", aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Master Morihei Ueshiba (1883 - 1969). What makes aikido unique is its emphasis on technical skill rather than brute strength and aggression. Students learn circular movements that are designed to blend with the attacker and utilise their energy to escape an attack, apply joint locks or throw the attacker to the ground. How can aikido help your child? Your child will not only learn a very powerful and thoughtful method of self defence, but also a set of values and attributes that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Guided by our experienced instructors, aikido will benefit your child in the following ways:
Is your child old enough? If your child is between 6 and 12 years of age they can join the class. When and where is the children's class? Please click here to see a timetable of the children's training sessions. COME
